sorry for sudden slow, am cooking

Nate is younger than Loki was expecting, somehow, and there's a hint of surprise in his mind at that realization but then again he's terrible at mortal ages; he could be anywhere from seventeen to nearly thirty and Loki would have trouble pinpointing. The man on the other side of the door is well-dressed; a button-up shirt with a dark blue and black pattern rolled at the sleeves, black pressed slacks, dress shoes, the whole nine. He smiles with one half of his mouth as Nate speaks, inclines his head in thanks, and steps into the apartment.

Not that much has changed since the last time he was here, but. Still.

"No, we didn't." Slightly amused at that. "What has Steve told you about me?"

Here's the thing, with Loki; he's not human. Not even close. So whatever Nate is used to finding in the mental/emotional range of a human, or even a mutant, isn't even a starting point for him. Sure, there's some familiarity, but Loki's thoughts and emotions are like a shifting kaleidoscope that makes a mosaic composited image when pulled far enough away from itself. When one is used to seeing the moving parts in motion and in concert.

At any singular given moment? It's pure chaos, personified.

Much like he is.

But there are some clarifiers. Even if Nate can't pinpoint a train of thought, he can definitely pick up on Loki's current state of surprise, amusement, and a sliver of concern. After a moment it evolves and splinters into a few specific directions. Worry that Nate won't like him. Worry that he's going to bring something terrible to his door, by taking Steve's offer and accepting a contract with him.
