The habit of scanning people is something he does without even really realizing a lot of the time. Given the sort of world he comes from, being able to read the intentions or even get a sort of feeling from another can lead to ones survival, especially when you're strangers.

Loki... isn't in the sense that Steve knows him and, obviously, trusts him enough to consider taking him on as a second submissive and, therefore, possibly having him live here with them. Still, Nate doesn't know Loki and while he's not about to question Steve's judgment when it comes to others, he's still a little more cautious and wanting to make sure Steve isn't being taken advantage of, let alone fooled, so. This little meeting of theirs is not just a way for them to meet prior to any official contract business happening but, a way for Nate to see just who this Loki is... and what, from the looks of it because... there's something definitely there that he's picking up on. He just doesn't quite know what it is. Yet.

"Think I should be asking you what Steve told you about me since I'm not the one feeling anxious about this." Door closing with Loki having made his way inside, Nate steps away from the door and slips his hands into his pockets, flicking those white bangs out of his face as he watches him.

Standing where he is, he can't help but ask then. "Are you part of the scary Avengers I've heard about?"
