[Wade is trying not to worry, but he's failing miserably. So he comes by a lot to check on Nate. The first day he comes with Bob the Unicorn and tucks it under Nate's sleeping arm.
He curls up beside him and talks. Different topics, like Scott missing quota, how he hopes he'll make his introduction into the MCU (Secret Wars, babbeeeyy!), the meaning of life, about where he might take Nate out to their next date that hopefully wouldn't get ruined by Sentinels...]
[On the second day he comes by with some flowers and he keeps talking with him as he eats lunch and he brings by the puppy, who gives Nate a bunch of kisses before curling at the foot of the bed as Wade sits by, flipping through various funny network posts, laughing, and showing them to Nate's sleeping face as though he can respond to them... conveniently skipping quickly past the one John had made asking about love and soulmates.]
[The next day he comes over with a pizza, holding out a slice to Nate's nose on the off chance that will wake him up. No dice. He even leans down and tries the whole 'Sleeping Beauty' angle with true love's kiss. Nope. Nada. Zilch.]
[The day after that, he keeps Nate's company in relative silence, a rarity for him. Before he leaves he kisses him again, taking his hand, squeezing it.]
Come back soon, Nate. There's something I need to tell you. I haven't been able to. Because... well, you know what happened to Ness. I just... I'm scared. People close to me get hurt.
[Wade sighs, leaning in close to Nate's ear to whisper.]
I love you.
[Maybe it's cheating to admit that when Nate can't even respond or probably even hear him. But it's a start.]
