(She also isn't exaaaaaactly from a team as of now. She's not X-Men, she's NYX. They are a community-focused group to aid mutants and allies, who sometimes, on occasion, do some shit.)
You're gonna want to play ball to some extent, though, Nate. Rowing the same boat, and all of that.
I donβt know how to fit in with teams. Especially with people who already all know each other.
( Heβs used to doing things on the fly. Not having to listen or answer to others without even questioning it. Heβd been learning that with Forge back on his own world, but. Even then, heβd been impulsive and prone to doing what he felt was right and not necessarily what others thought. He doesnβt know how well that will work here. How well he will work with them here. )
Technically, you are getting to know people, aren't you? So at least, the latter is gonna disappear quite fast. The former, I guess, well. Up to you. You need me, you call me, I'm there.
(Although she isn't is sure Nate is never gonna need her, at least power-wise. She can hold his hand, guide him into more emotionally stable grounds, it worked once, she can keep trying to learn how to recenter him. She's good for that.
But what an Omega might need from a glitchy telepath? Beats her.)
( He eyes her some when she goes and brings up his getting to know people. Well. She isn't wrong, but. He still feels a bit like an outsider surrounded by people who have history with each other. Not that it bothers him really. He's used to being on his own now β sometimes thinks it's for the best, but. Still.
Looking back to the menu, he carefully considers what to get before he flicks his gaze back up to Sophie. )
Why does Julian want to lead? Because Scott is so young here?
(Eye her all you want, she's right. The way things go with mutants, he'll have his own history with each one of them a-real soon.
But, well, good question. One of her shoulders raise ever so slightly.)
Julian... Well, he just takes stuff upon himself. That's how he is. As for Kid Cyclops, that one is my responsibility, so I guess he's not leading shit. He's watching and learning, if he can drop the mad teen aura he got around.
The bots bring all the dishes she ordered, one of each available item on the menu set on the table. If anything, the mansion residents are gonna have a very nice breakfast while she's deep asleep.
It's good.)
If anything, I guess it helps to consider he's not exactly Scott Summers. He's a kid who just got his powers, so maybe start with that.
( Reaching for something off one of the plates, he looks to her while he takes a bite β considers her words again before he's looking down to the plates around them on the table. )
What do you think of Julian leading? Has he done it before?
He has a way to make me feel safe, and I know he's got me, so I trust him with it.
(Even if she and the other Cuckoos were all for disposing of humans, Julian hid them rather than killing them.
Respect points. Skill issue on her part, though.)
Yep, he's led before. Like I told you, I was dead for a good five, six, however many years until recently, so I wasn't actually there. From what I picked up from the hivemind when I got brought back, he's solid, reliable, and knows when to step up and when to stand down. No doubt in my mind he's got us.
( He tries something else β lets his fingers guide the decision for what to try next β as he listens to her. He doesn't have a problem with Julian. Doesn't really know him all that well just as he doesn't know any of them all that well, but. He's curious concerning the dynamics of teamwork here. )
What about Jean and Storm?
( He only brings them up because they're two of the oldest X-Men here. )
(It's true, at least. She's known for playing with boys' emotions β the pretty, yet manipulative, popular girl stance, but also? A bit tired of all the Cuckoo game. Flirting, yes, manipulating as of now? Nah.)
Thanks, by the way. For the company. Pretty nice.
(Considering she hasn't been leaving her room much.)
Hey, you're the one who decided to keep me company.
( He offers her a smile. She reached out to him via telepathy while he'd been up there floating above the mansion, but. Really, they're keeping each other company this night. )
Did you, handsome, sweet prince, have to be a telepath? Lying to our people is a hassle.
(The sigh she gives comes from the depths of her lungs. She could, you know, try, but perhaps Nate is just like her.
Nosy, especially when something is a blatant lie.)
No. I've been forcefully separated from the one thing I know, which I have just separated from but could go back to if I wanted to. My powers are glitching left and right. My connections here are paved on some bullshit, or mostly on my remaining sisters, which, fair, because we don't really care for individuality most of the time, but they're not really mine. I miss my friends, I miss my phone, and I miss my bed. The list goes on and on.
( He's quiet as she talks β listens to her and how she feels. He can't really say he has anything to miss like some of the others here mightβ well. He could say he misses Forge and his world, but. There's no bringing him back β no going back to his world. Not like all of them here where they have something and someone to go back to.
Still, he glances down for a moment β mulls over something quietly β then looks back up to her with gentle blue eyes. )
Your memories of them. I could recreate them for you to interact with. Not... forever.
( His mind has the ability to make things β make dreams β become so real and lifelike, it's as if pulling them into reality. Granted, he tends to do this more when he's dreaming, but. He could always give it a try. )
(Half-true. She misses them, even if she is still mad. Going no-contact, as painful as it is, is the best thing Sophie can do for Sophie. They've got a reputation, and it's earned, deserved, and well-documented β Sophie wants to be better than that. Someone believes in her, she might as well try and believe in herself, too.
Besides, if he went into her memories, there were some things he might not deal very well with. Let's not.)
Besides, I don't think you would recreate our hivemind right, no offense. We walk together, move in sync, talk together, kind of one unit of a thing. People can't even tell us apart, so I think that'd be hard on you, Nate.
